  • 7th AF vice commander visits Wolf Pack

    Brig. Gen. David Eaglin, 7th Air Force vice commander, visited the 8th Fighter Wing for an orientation tour July 12. During his visit, he shared his thoughts with 8th Fighter Wing Public Affairs.
  • 8th SFS takes first at PACAF competition

    A team of 8th Security Forces Squadron defenders took first place, during Pacific Air Forces’ Advanced Combat Skills Assessment competition at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, June 24 to 28. The 8th SFS team competed against 10 teams of PACAF’s top defenders. Over the week, the 11 teams competed in numerous events that challenged the defenders’ mental and physical fortitude including hand-to-hand combatives, marksmanship, range estimation, physical fitness, land navigation and building clearing tactics.

    On Feb. 3, 2002, the New England Patriots defeated the heavily favored St. Louis Rams, 20-17, in Super Bowl XXXVI to take home their first-ever Super Bowl victory. The Patriots’ kicker, Adam Vinatieri, made a 48-yard field goal to win just as the clock hit zero. They shocked fans everywhere, including a young F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot, 1st Lt. Lawrence Sullivan, who was watching his hometown team in a dorm at Osan Air Base.
  • 8 LRS Master Sergeant receives top DLA award

    The Defense Logistics Agency awarded Master Sgt. Renaldo Renee, 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron maintenance support section chief, as one of the 10 Outstanding DLA Personnel of the Year. Renee received the award as a technical sergeant for his work from Oct. 1, 2017, to Aug. 31, 2018, as a joint contingency acquisition support officer for the DLA in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Renee had already begun his one year short tour at Kunsan when the call for nominees went out.

    The 8th Fighter Wing leadership held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to reveal two renovated testing rooms at the Kunsan Education Center on Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, May 22.
