Seventh Air Force Re-designation Ceremony
OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- (L to R) General Carrol H. “Howie” Chandler, Pacific Air Forces commander, passes the new Seventh Air Force (Air Forces Korea) guidon to Lt. Gen. Stephen G. Wood, Seventh Air Force (Air Forces Korea) commander, during the Seventh Air Force Re-designation Ceremony Jan. 30 in the 5th Reconnaissance Squadron hangar. This ceremony marks the implementation of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force's direction to establish an Air Force component organization that is structured to operate and train every day in its wartime configuration. These warfighting organizations are being stood up around the globe to enable the effective command and control of air, space, and cyberspace forces conducting missions across the spectrum of military operations. The new Seventh Air Force (Air Forces Korea) organization will provide the United States Forces Korea commander with critical air component capabilities, ensuring a key element of joint and combined operations on the Korean peninsula.
