Pride of the Pack: Staff Sergeant Shonta Belton

Staff Sgt. Shonta Belton from the 80th Fighter Squadron was selected as the 8th Fighter Wing's Pride of the Pack for the week of Dec. 3. Each week, the 8th Fighter Wing commander recognizes one member of the Wolf Pack by awarding them with a Pride of the Pack certificate for their stellar commitment to excellence and superior mission accomplishment. Here are some of Sergeant Belton's highlights.

Letter from her commander: 
It is my pleasure to nominate Staff Sergeant Shonta Belton for the Pride of the Pack Award. Sergeant Belton has repeatedly demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the "Wolf Pack" mission. As a squadron aviation resource management (SARM) journeyman, she superbly managed every aspect of this demanding position. She has received 8th Fighter Wing SORTS office inspectors highest praise for SORTS practices, which was validated by a SAV with zero discrepancies. She aggressively manages her section's training of six personnel who orchestrate the coordination, monitoring and post mission data collection of the 80th Fighter Squadron flight activity focused on mission success. 

Sergeant  Belton's consistent positive attitude and knowledge made her an easy choice for the "80FS Outstanding Performer" for 8 FW, ORE for her superior situational awareness which ensured perfect scramble launches and contributed to the decisive command and control of F-16 flight operations. Sergeant Belton's complete understanding of the multiple dynamics involved with the employment of air power led her to train her airman with meticulous attention to detail and unparalleled pride in supporting her pilots and the Wolf Pack mission. She maintained a meticulous computer security account with 100 percent accountability of over 1500 products. Her COMSEC program received recognition as being the best program on base by the 8 FW COMSEC office. 

She enthusiastically supports unit, base and community activities. Active member of Airmen Assisting Airmen. Promotes Wolf Pack pride through Habitat for Humanity, which helped rebuild eight dwellings for local residents. Huge Success and morale booster! She achieves instant gratification of putting on the uniform. Sergeant Belton is an outstanding NCO who soars unrivaled and performs at the highest level of leadership and trust; she epitomizes the Pride of the Pack.
