Staff Sergeant Jennifer Patterson from the 8th Maintenance Squadron was selected as the 8th Fighter Wing's Pride of the Pack for the week of Jan. 28. Each week, the 8th Fighter Wing commander recognizes one member of the Wolf Pack by awarding them with a Pride of the Pack certificate for their stellar commitment to excellence and superior mission accomplishment. Here is a letter from Sergeant Patterson's commander explaining her achievements.

Letter from the commander:

It is my pleasure to recommend Staff Sgt. Jennifer Patterson from the 8th Maintenance Squadron for the Pride of the Pack Award. Sergeant Patterson has made numerous significant contributions to the wing and community from the moment she arrived on Kunsan Air Base in July 2007.

Sergeant Patterson's primary duty in the 8 MXS is Precision Guided Munitions Crew Chief. Her keen attention to detail was evident when she discovered a barely noticeable defect on an AIM-9/M safety device which, once corrected, prevented inadvertent arming of the missile. Additionally, Sergeant Patterson is the Precision Guided Munitions Element's lead scheduler as she possesses unsurpassed stockpile management abilities and work coordination skills. This was shown when completion of a TCTO on stockpile munitions expected to take three days was completed in three hours solely due to her coordination efforts and superb planning. Furthermore, Sergeant Patterson displayed continued excellence when she completed 245 AGM-65D/G missile inspections in addition to scheduled work eliminating an inspection backlog dating back several years. Her unyielding devotion to duty was evident when she led a team to correct 337 inventory discrepancies found during a 100% inspection of the munitions stockpile.

Sergeant Patterson personifies Air Force Core Values and stands ready to take the fight north. Her superior leadership was key to the successful execution of two peninsula-wide Operational Readiness Exercises in which the 8 FW generated over 1,000 sorties. Her actions directly impacted the Wolf Pack's preparation for the July 2007 Conventional Ammunition Production Exercise (CAPEX), during which Sergeant Patterson's leadership and coordination skills were vital in producing 238 missiles meeting all sortie generations.

In addition to Sergeant Patterson's regular duties, her enthusiastic persona and selfless contributions of time both on and off duty prominently represented the 8th Maintenance Squadron. She continually instills "esprit de corps" in others as she sets the example for work ethic and devotion. Sergeant Patterson also led a group of volunteers in an oil spill clean-up operation, ensuring the 8th Maintenance Squadron led the Pack protecting our environment and assisting our host nation.

Sergeant Patterson is second to none in leadership, performance of duties, and going "above and beyond" within the Wolf Pack and is deserving of this recognition. She consistently exhibits superior expertise and professionalism and never fails to lead by example.
