In keeping with the sprit of the United States Forces Korea Good Neighbor Program, Kunsan Air Base hosted a group of local elementary students and teachers June 12.

More than 40 students and teahcers from Seonyeon Elementary School in Gunsan City, Republic of Korea, took part in an educational tour of the base in order to learn more about the Republic of Korea - United States partnership and the ROK Air Force and United States Air Force combined mission.

"It's great to interact with the Korean youth and [to] open our doors to them so that they see what we do on a daily basis," said Tech. Sgt. Andrew Odell, 8th Security Forces Squadron.

While here, the students received a military working dog demonstration from security forces Airmen, an up-close look at an F-16 Fighting Falcon and learned about the mission and equipment of base fire and protection team members.

"Not only did the students get to come and learn, but they got to experience the American culture," said Rosemary Song, 8th Fighter Wing community relations director. "It was an exciting day for both the children and servicemembers involved."

"Today's tour was very nice I'm very impressed" said Chang-Gil Jeong, a teacher from the elementary school.

USFK's Good Neighbor Program has been implemented across the Korean peninsula since 2002. The program encompasses a wide variety of programs and activities that engage the local community, government and military, in order to provide a public understanding and appreciation of the ROK and US military mission.

"Kunsan Air Base is a part of Gunsan City, Korea," said Ms. Song. "It is very, very important to open doors for our neighbors."
