Airmen, Soldiers and Marines assigned and deployed to Kunsan Air Base are exercising the mission here--to Defend the Base, Accept Follow-on Forces and Take the Fight North--through a local Operational Readiness Exercise this week.

An afternoon, base-wide recall Feb. 22, joined servicemembers in order to test their ability to survive and operate in simulated wartime contingencies for Operational Readiness Exercise Beverly Midnight 09-01.

"This exercise will definitely test the tenacity and perseverance of the Wolf Pack," said Col. JD "Wolf" Harris, 8th Fighter Wing commander. "We will be counting on every member of the Wolf Pack team to carry out their responsibilities effectively throughout the exercise."

During the week-long exercise base Airmen and Soldiers will focus on rendering Self Aid and Buddy Care to injured workmates and also demonstrate their ability to complete the mission in simulated chemical environments.

Beverly Midnight 09-01, will challenge Airmen to accomplish theses tasks while encumbered by different levels of Mission Oriented Protective Posture gear.

"The men and women of the Wolf Pack train everyday on these core skills that enable us to survive and operate in hostile environments," said Colonel Harris. "This week will be about putting all these concepts into action at the same time and under stress."

Marines participating in the exercise are deployed here from the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan and are also scheduled to participate in exercise Key Resolve, hosted by United States Forces Korea.

The local exercise is scheduled to run through Feb. 27.
