It was Wolf Pack Palooza April 9 - 10 as Wolf Pack members celebrated the end of the week - long Unit Compliance Inspection March 29 to April 2. The weekend boasted two musical acts: the first, rocker Fred Shafer and taking a different route, country music star Mark Chesnutt for day two.

The concerts were held in celebration of all the hard work that Wolf Pack members have been doing for the UCI.

"I'm very proud of your efforts and all you have done," said Col. Robert Givens, 8th Fighter Wing commander, during a wing commander's call. "This wing has worked extremely hard. All the hard work has paid off. The grades that we received were for plans and programs and we have worked hard for them. UCI aside, without a doubt, the Wolf Pack is ready to do the mission."

The festivities kicked off with a concert by Fred Shafer April 9. The concert, which featured the band's original music, entertained more than 100 Wolf Pack members. Afterward, the band mingled with fans and signed autographs.

The party didn't end there. Wolf Pack members came out in force April 10 for the continuation of the celebration.

Country music star Mark Chesnutt visited the Wolf Pack to put on a concert and to bring a little of the honky tonk attitude to the Wolf Pack.

Before the concert, Mr. Chesnutt visited some 8th Security Forces Squadron members at the security forces weapons simulator and was able to actually use the simulator.

"It was really fun to do that," said Mr. Chesnutt. "This was the first time I got to shoot that many rounds without having to clean anything. It was great. It was definitely the highlight of the trip."

It was the concert and playing for the Wolf Pack that brought Mr. Chesnutt here and he was very happy about participating.

"I just really enjoy doing these things," said Mr. Chesnutt. "When we play for the military we understand that they enjoy the entertainment more than anybody. We like to bring a little of the honky tonk atmosphere wherever we go. We know that the folks in the military have a lot on their mind; busy schedules, a lot to worry about ... so we like to entertain and give some people a couple hours to just kick back relax, dance and cut up."

More than 450 Wolf Pack members came out to enjoy the show and be a part of the celebration, but it was the entertainers themselves who enjoyed visiting the Wolf Pack.

"We just want to say thanks a lot for what you [servicemembers] are doing," said Mr. Chesnutt. "We appreciate all you do and support you 100 percent."
