Unit:  8th Security Forces Squadron

Duties:  I am responsible for providing aircraft security, police services and defending the base of 2,700 Wolf Pack members.  I respond to incidents affecting the security of over $2.75B in aerospace systems across four restricted areas. I also provide resource protection for five funds facilities, 20 weapons/munitions facilities and 33 controlled areas.  Furthermore, I assist in incident and accident investigations, apprehensions and base entry control.

Hometown: Slidell, La.

Hobbies: Writing, drawing, Warhammer 40K and various role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Dark Heresy, etc.

Favorite music: I listen to anything

Follow on: Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea

Last good movie you saw: The Cat Returns (anime)

Best thing you've done here:  The times that I have spent doing town patrol at the International Cultural Village because I love doing law enforcement.  I do not get to partake in law enforcement during my regular duties and town patrol has been the closest I have been.

Reason for nomination:  "While posted as an Installation Search Team leader, Airman Vann searched and discovered a mission critical document in a Korean National's privately owned vehicle. Airman Vann's swift actions and sound judgment helped ensure Kunsan AB remained a hard target. In addition, Airman Vann processed over 245 personnel while posted as a Kunsan AB Entry controller; while posted, he identified three unauthorized personnel and denied these individuals access to the base.  Furthermore, Airman Vann conducted random anti-terrorism measures as a Protection Level 3 entry controller, where he showcased the 8th SFS deterrent capabilities and our ability to staunchly protect $2.75B in USAF assets."  - Tech. Sgt. John E. Welch IV, 8th SFS Response Force Leader
