The 8th Maintenance Operations Squadron and 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron received respective Outstanding and Excellent results following the 2010 Air Combat Command and Pacific Air Forces Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection here Dec. 6-10.

According to the combined ACC and PACAF LCAP team's report, the 8th MOS was given a 96.14 percent pass rate, and the 8th LRS earned a 93.78 percent pass rate. The 8th Fighter Wing overall also earned a Satisfactory pass rate of 84.73 percent.

The LCAP provides leadership at all levels an evaluation of a unit's ability to perform key logistics processes in a safe, standardized, repeatable, and technically compliant manner, according to the report.

"In order to pass an LCAP, you have to have three things," said Maj. A.J. Griffin, 8th MOS commander. "First, have outstanding Airmen who are passionate about their jobs and their programs. Second is you have to have Airmen who dig deep into the regulations to ensure they are meeting the requirements. And third, you have to have solid team work; one person or one squadron will not pass an LCAP, but it can cause a failure."

The LCAP is performed annually in Korea and biannually across the rest of the Air Force; it is the largest inspection logistics has, said Tech. Sgt. Daniel Ammerman, 8th LRS Operations Compliance Section chief.

"One thing that has to be realized when going into an LCAP is that the team coming in will do over 2,900 program inspections, observations, and in-progress evaluations," Major Griffin said. "This can be very nerve-wracking, especially if you have never had the pressure of an inspector evaluating each and every move you make."

Major Griffin attributed the wing's success to months of preparation and team work across the Wolf Pack.

"The 8th FW did so well in this past LCAP because since June, when most of us got here, the LCAP has been the focus of our attention," the major said. "Between the three maintenance squadrons and LRS, we all have been working as a team, cross-checking each other's programs and standardizing programs to ensure we are meeting the standard. The 8th FW Airmen have worked late nights and spent weekends making sure all logistics programs were beyond reproach and all of that hard work showed when the results came out."

Sergeant Ammerman said he believes the 8th LRS's Excellent rating is due in part to the squadron's current leadership. He said one of Maj. Robert Bearden's core principles is daily compliance in the squadron's operations.

"We don't just get it done, we get it done the right way," Sergeant Ammerman said. "The reason being is, if for whatever reason, everybody in our squadron was to just disappear tomorrow, other logistics professionals could come in from another base and hopefully pick our programs up right off the shelves and keep going without missing a beat. We've gotten the squadron back to basics and doing things the way they're supposed to be done."

Sergeant Ammerman and Major Griffin are both very proud of the inspection results.

"There are some people who may come to a place like Kunsan and look at it as a one-year temporary duty, but not our Airmen," he continued. "They're all very forward-thinking and not just counting down days on a calendar. They are really trying to leave it better than when they found it."

"Looking at the final report, it will tell you why we did so well," said Major Griffin. "When you have 116 'Outstanding Performers' and the overall wing assessment states 'The 8th FW is filled with motivated, mission focused Airmen who were ready to perform when called upon to Defend the Base, Accept Follow-on Forces and Take the Fight North,' you can only be talking about the Wolf Pack!"
