Reason for nomination: "Sergeant Dyer has completely transformed the security posture of the RAPCON/tower and airfield management operations facilities. He has utilized the skills he gained in his previous Air Force Specialty Code as a security forces officer to lead the operations support administration flight in post-attack reconnaissance sweeps, unexploded ordinance detection and reporting, weapons safety, cover and concealment, challenge procedures, and overall facility security. He has taught over 40 personnel the proper techniques for each of these areas through hands-on training.

"His leadership and expertise is evidenced by the performance of the flight during the last two operational readiness exercises. OSA facilities have been attacked by opposition forces on at least eight occasions with no OSA casualties and numerous kills of the attackers. During one attack, Sergeant Dyer's outstanding tactics in concealment allowed him to single-handedly kill two OPPFOR without ever being detected. One stated later that he never knew Sergeant Dyer was there. He has taken his entire flight to a much higher state of readiness and has guaranteed the security of the Wolf Pack's ATC and airfield command and control facilities. He is certainly the Pride of the Pack!" - Chief Master Sgt. John Sawyer, 8th OSS
