Following a winning series of 3-1 versus the U.S. Army Garrison's softball team from Daegu here June 11 and 12, Kunsan's softball team will play the peninsula's top-ranked team from Camp Casey here June 18 and 19.

"We did pretty well as a team," said Tech. Sgt. Larry McEntire, from the 8th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and team coach. "We had a great showing and I think that helped the team's morale."

Sergeant McEntire said his team's star performers from the Daegu game were Tech. Sgt. Matthew Carlson, a crew chief from the 8th AMXS and the team's right center fielder, Master Sgt. James Kasch, 8th Communications Squadron communications security manager and third baseman, and Tech. Sgt. Chad Jett, 8th AMXS runway superintendent and the team's catcher.

Though in all humility, Sergeant McEntire said he lead the team's batting average.

"We represent the best softball players from Kunsan," he said. "We showcase some of the Wolf Pack's best spirit week-in and out. I make sure we represent the team professionally on and off the field," he added.

Sergeant McEntire said they have carried on this spirit and streak since a very successful set of games during the 21st Annual Pacific Wide Softball Tournament at USAG Youngsan May 26 to 30.

One of the team's star performers, Sergeant Jett, said following their superior performance at the tournament, the Daegu game went really well, but couldn't have been done without their focus on teamwork.

"As a team, we played really well," he said. "Last weekend was some of our players' last time playing with the team and to have a win as big as we did, it is a great way to send them off."

The base team will play Camp Casey here June 18 at 4 and 5:15 p.m. and on June 19 at 9 and 10:15 a.m.

"This team will be very challenging," Sergeant Jett said. "But as long as we keep the hits up and stay focused on teamwork, we'll have a fighting chance."

"We've definitely been on a hot streak and are prepared for whatever Camp Casey can throw at us," Sergeant McEntire added. "We really appreciate all your continued support at the games, it makes a big difference and a big crowd of Wolf Pack members can be intimidating to the other team."
