On Aug. 7, the Kunsan Team 5/6 awarded their first-ever Most Valuable Professional Award to Airman 1st Class John Rodriguez from the 8th Communications Squadron.

Team 5/6 developed this award as a way to recognize Airmen who continually set the standard for their peers. As supervisors, junior NCOs need to recognize the efforts of their Airmen.

This recognition plays an integral part in keeping our Airmen motivated. It is also part of the mentorship process. We decided to make this a monthly award so that we can recognize the most deserving Airmen within a reasonable timeframe. One bullet for each category is achievable within this period.

Team 5/6 hopes this award recognizes Wolf Pack Airmen who go above and beyond.

In today's Air Force, great emphasis is placed on developing our Airmen to embody the "whole person concept." That is the focal point of the MVP Award.

After the Air Force Form 1206s are submitted to the Awards and Recognition Committee, they are scored by our board members. The winner is then announced at the monthly Team 5/6 meeting.

Competition is tough and those who are submitted clearly epitomize what it means to be an Airman.

"We want to thank all the NCOs who took the time to nominate and recognize their Airmen," said Tech. Sgt. Ayana Hodges, 5/6 president. "Keep continuing to do a great job on setting your Airmen up for success. We look forward to seeing more nominations for the month of August."
