Reason for nomination: "On August 9th, Senior Airman Dunn was the on-duty shop supervisor for the Tire Shop in Vehicle Maintenance. Dunn recognized an unsafe procedure being conducted by personnel using the shop equipment, prevented them from continuing the unsafe act and showed them the proper way to use the shop's equipment to refill the large special-purpose split-rim tire they were working on. Dunn's actions may have saved the lives of the five personnel unfamiliar with the shop's safety procedures. They began to fill the tire on the ground instead of using the tire safety cage in the shop. After placing the tire in the cage and initiating the process to fill the tire up, the tire exploded. The tire cage is specifically designed for just this occurrence. Had Dunn not recognized the unsafe practice and not placed the tire in the cage to be filled, it is quite possible the five personnel and others in the shop could have been seriously harmed or even killed by the explosion. Dunn's dedication to safety and ability to recognize dangerous acts epitomizes the Air Force core value of "Excellence In All We Do" and is deserving of this week's Pride of the Pack Award," Capt. Anthony Langley, 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron.
