On Oct. 11, Staff Sgt. Kevin Rugar was named as Kunsan's weekly "Pride of the Pack."

What he did
"Staff Sgt. Kevin Rugar epitomizes the Kunsan Air Base team player. He corrected several lingering tactical communications problems for the 8th Security Forces Squadron by relocating two base stations, re-positioning and aligning associated antennas and optimizing base station functionalities. As a result, Rugar eliminated several radio dead spots along the flightline area and ensured 100 percent communications coverage for real-world air base defense and for the recent Beverly Midnight 12-4 exercise. Additionally, Rugar led a three-man team to replace two defective "giant voice batteries" at the Wolf Pack Park speaker stack. This corrective action restored critical emergency action alarms to any potential follow-on forces. As a well-rounded Airman, Rugar also volunteered one hour to teach English skills and provide feedback to a South Korean elementary school child. He also attends a three-hour Korean language course twice a week. Rugar is a mission-driven, dedicated technician and exceptional leader who epitomizes the highest professional standards of the 8th Communications Squadron and the U.S. Air Force."
