On Oct. 25, Senior Airman Mario Di Franco was named Kunsan's weekly "Pride of the Pack."

What he did
Senior Airman Mario Di Franco is a key member of the 8th Communications Squadron radar work center. He led a four-man team in repairing a WSR-88 weather radar high voltage arcing outage. In doing so, he was able to prevent $50,000 worth of equipment losses. Additionally, Di Franco troubleshot a 28-volt multi-voltage power supply and identified faulty over-temperature circuitry for the precision approach radar. As a result, Di Franco proficiently removed and replaced unoperational multi-voltage power supply, preventing a catastrophic system failure. Di Franco is not only an exceptional technician, but he is an ardent community supporter as well. During off-duty hours, Di Franco dedicates four hours every Sunday cooking brunch for more than 50 members of both U.S. and Republic of Korea air forces, directly fostering strong community ties. Di Franco is also the lead CS member of project "Pick It Up," Kunsan Air Base's initiative for cleaning up the base. Di Franco is a first-rate technician, enthusiastic community devotee and an exceptional individual exhibiting the highest professional standards of the 8th CS and United States Air Force. These traits and his exceptional professionalism make him this week's Pride of the Pack.
