On Dec. 10, 2012, Senior Airman Spencer Hardesty, 8th Logistic Readiness Squadron, fire truck and refueling maintenance journeyman was named Kunsan's weekly "Pride of the Pack."

What he did
Senior Airman Spencer Hardesty, 8th Logistic Readiness Squadron is a fire truck and refueling maintenance journeyman. Hardesty expertly troubleshot and repaired an R-11 refueler pumping system issue that eluded other technicians.

Through his expert diagnosis he was able to overhaul an inoperative main line valve and vent valve assembly which prevented two weeks down time awaiting parts. Additionally, he was instrumental in recertifying a recently repaired Hydrostatic Hose Tester used to test 3 inch hoses for aircraft refueling, removing a 3-week backlog and ensuring zero mission delays and facilitating the issue of 8,800 gallons of JP-8 fuel to 26 F-16 Fighting Falcon and transient aircraft.

His direct accomplishments and dedication to the mission increased the Fire Truck and Refueling Maintenance sections mission capable rate by 5 percent.
