Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea -- Current as of 2 December 2020:
Due to the continued numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases within South Korea, USFK has extended the off-limits travel to or within Area II - except for those who reside within Area II, or for individuals conducting official and necessary duties - until further notice.
Bubble-to-bubble travel remains authorized for Yongsan Garrison.
The following off-post activities are prohibited peninsula-wide until further notice: saunas, bathhouses, gyms, fitness facilities, martial arts classes, aerobic and dance classes, internet cafes, karaoke, singing and music lessons.
USFK continually monitors COVID-19 conditions on the peninsula, and makes an official assessment and recommendation every seven days for approval.
All USFK-affiliated individuals are reminded to adhere to all USFK core tenets, HPCON measures and ROK government and local directives.
Based on the current COVID-19 numbers in South Korea, U.S. Forces Korea has adjusted its current health protection condition, or HPCON, to “Bravo” peninsula-wide effective Monday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
MASK-WEAR: Mask-wear is required at the commissary, shoppette, post office, bank, Wolf Pack Lodge, finance, medical facilities, or whenever a meter or 3 feet of separation cannot be maintained. These locations require mask-wear due to the confined space, high foot traffic, and per Defense Commissary Agency guidance. Always carry a mask with you and be prepared to wear it when appropriate separation cannot be maintained. Mask-wear is mandatory off-installation unless seated at a restaurant or exercising - for example, hiking. All members of the Wolf Pack must adhere to local mask regulations and demonstrate respect for our Host Nation.
***UPDATE*** Mask-wear off base is mandatory – and only certain types of masks are authorized! According to the Republic of Korea Public Health standards, the following masks are NOT authorized and could result in the same fine ($87) incurred for not wearing a mask at all: balaclavas, neck gaiters, mesh masks, valve masks, clothing items or scarves. Reusable cloth masks or valveless surgical/medical masks are authorized. Upon arrival at Kunsan, you should have been issued at least one reusable cloth mask that is in compliance with ROK standards. If you have lost that mask, the 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron (SMSgt Kirk Niles) will distribute replacement masks to your squadron’s COVID rep or First Sergeant this afternoon, 23 Oct. Please contact your First Sergeant or your COVID rep if you need a replacement cloth mask or if you have any questions.
ON-PENINSULA TRAVEL: Travel within the Republic of Korea, including Jeju Island, is authorized. Although public transportation is authorized, members are encouraged to use extreme caution and should wear their masks at all times. Members are permitted to stay at accommodations on or off base - for example, hotels, family or friends' homes, campsites, etc.
OFF-PENINSULA TRAVEL: Travel outside of the Republic of Korea is authorized in accordance with the 8th Fighter Wing leave policy.
BASE VISITORS: Escorting a visitor on base requires coordination with the 8th Security Forces Squadron.
AUTHORIZED: All off-base services and activities are authorized, with the exception of bars, clubs, and establishments that restrict entrance to adults only.
