Biographies

Colonel Rene Saenz

Colonel Rene Saenz is the Commander, 8th Medical Group, Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. Colonel Rene Saenz leads 158 personnel across two diverse squadrons which support 2,800 assigned active duty personnel within 19 units. He executes a $3.5 million budget and oversees a $29 million / 13-building infrastructure, 57 War Reserve Materiel assemblages and 8 Home Station Medical Response projects while delivering 13 product lines including a 24-hour ambulance response capability. His unit executes the legendary Wolf Pack’s mission to always be ready.

Colonel Saenz received a direct commission in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps after serving in the National Public Health Service Corps, Air Force Reserves and successfully practicing in a private practice setting. He completed a residency from the two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry post graduate program at Wilford Hall Medical Center Lackland AFB Texas and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Botany.

Colonel Saenz was the first AF dental officer to complete a six week Embassy Immersion Program in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and the first International Health Specialist for the Air Force Dental Corps holding a Global Health Special Experience Identifier in International Global Health Affairs.
