KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- On January 26th, Airmen from the 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron and 8th Civil Engineer Squadron at Kunsan Air Base discovered and immediately responded to a fuel leak on base.
Our trained experts took quick action to prevent any further impacts to the installation, and the contaminants are currently contained to the immediate site. Our teams will continue to monitor the site as restoration efforts continue.
There is no threat to drinking water as it is supplied from an off-base source and do not anticipate any immediate risk to the health or safety of on base or surrounding off-base communities.
Our dedicated teams at Kunsan Air Base are working diligently to clean up the spill site in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and sound environmental practices. We are committed to being good stewards of the environment and to protecting the health of our personnel and the surrounding communities.
The cause of the incident in under investigation and we will provide more information once it is available.
