KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Shane Gaynor, a native of Riverbank, California and 8th Force Support Squadron dining facility manager, was awarded the 8th Fighter Wing’s Pride of the Pack for the week of July 27 – 31 for demonstrating exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment as DFAC Manager, overseeing Pacific Air Force’s largest $56M food service program across two dining facilities.
Under Tech. Sgt. Gaynor’s leadership, his team successfully supported four bilateral exercises, 27 distinguished visitor events and four special events while sustaining a 34% operational surge. Amid increased demand, Gaynor rallied his team to produce more than 330,000 meals and 1,500 boxed meals, supporting nearly 148,000 joint warfighters and generated more than $1.2 million in sales. His innovative efforts to expand healthy dining options by 87% and increased participation by 85%, directly enhancing the quality of life and readiness of the Wolfpack.
Beyond mission execution, Gaynor is deeply invested in developing Airmen and building high-performing teams. He revamped end-of-course study preparation, helping two Airmen earn scores above 94% on their Career Development Course exams.
He further dedicated more than 40 hours mentoring 11 Airmen through the Junior Enlisted Foundation courses and facilitated four Professional Military Education courses, developing 42 Airmen and NCOs.
Gaynor’s leadership fostered a culture of excellence that produced both a Civilian Category II Award winner and a Team of the Quarter recognition. His professionalism, innovation, and dedication embody the spirit of the Wolf Pack and make him deserving for Pride of the Pack recognition.
