U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Albert Corona, a native of Los Angeles, California and 8th Operations Support Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of air traffic control training, was awarded the 8th Fighter Wing’s Pride of the Pack for the week of March 23 - 27 for managing a 42-member program for two facilities, establishing seven new tower position certification guides, refining 14 simulator scenarios and 1.6 thousand objectives on 555 tasks, closing a two-year discrepancy.

As the NCOIC of air traffic control training, Corona guided three members in the creation of the first Pacific Air Forces Federal Aviation Administration style ratings program, building a local knowledge guide & qualification program while slashing task volume by 95% posturing ATC for a 33% training timeline reduction.

He led an ATC Quick Reference Checklist overhaul project, validating guidance for 119 guides across 16 publications, rectifying seven non-compliant, 1st-step actions, as well as correcting oversights in aircraft emergency procedures between four base agencies.

As a 5/6 Professional Development lead, he partnered with two NCOs, conducting a five-day Airmen-4-Life course, providing mentorship on personal resiliency & stress management techniques, enhancing junior enlisted wellness for 20 members.

Thank you, Staff Sgt. Corona, for your outstanding leadership and dedication to the Wolf Pack mission. Congratulations on being this week’s Pride of the Pack!
