KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Gabriela Gonzalez-Colon, a native of Patillas, Puerto Rico and 8th Force Support Squadron registered mail noncommissioned officer in charge, won the 8th Fighter Wing’s Pride of the Pack award for the week of Feb. 2–6, 2026, for expertly leading a team of six postal clerks in the meticulous review of 618 documents and facilitated a critical postal services migration for 206 Airmen supporting Super Squadron Phase Test II.
As a registered mail NCOIC, Gonzalez-Colon ensures uninterrupted mail service and significantly bolsters the morale of deploying personnel.
In her pursuit of innovation, she developed a new letter-mail barcode system, providing real-time notifications upon receipt. This process was instrumental in managing over 11,000 pieces of mail, driving a 66 percent increase in the collection of ignored mail, and correcting a key deficiency identified during a recent postal inspection.
She revolutionized customs form processing by commissioning three new workstations and a user-friendly guide, which streamlined the entire mail-in process. Her actions slashed customer wait times for 5,752 patrons by 85 percent, expedited the processing of over 2,700 pounds of outbound mail, and directly resolved a critical deficiency identified during the recent Postal Effectiveness Inspection.
Finally, Gonzalez-Colon single-handedly standardized postal operations by creating a comprehensive immersion binder that provides clear, step-by-step guidance for nine key postal programs, accelerating personnel training.
Thank you, Staff Sgt. Gonzalez-Colon, for your outstanding leadership and dedication to the Wolf Pack mission. Congratulations on being this week’s Pride of the Pack!
