Pride of the Pack: Staff Sgt. Kaselynn Baumbaugh

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kaselynn Baumbaugh, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and 8th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron mental health technician noncommissioned officer in charge won the 8th Fighter Wing’s Pride of the Pack award for the week of Jan. 26–30, 2026, for ensuring psychological health and readiness across 21 units while delivering 1.1K appointments supporting 2.2K beneficiaries.

As a mental health technician, Baumbaugh manages mental health outreach, prevention, and treatment, providing critical command consultation that safeguards the base populace.

She leads the mental health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment operations for the 8th Fighter Wing. Baumbaugh developed Pacific Air Force’s first drug training program where she trained 170 counselors across nine military treatment facilities.

Additionally, she directs the Disaster Mental Health Team and recently orchestrated an 11-member team composed of seven AFSCs, stabilizing 587 Airmen and preventing 67 specialty referrals.

She is the enlisted lead for the psychiatric on-call program, ensuring 24/7 crisis response capability for the wing and is the sole embedded mental health technician for the 8th Security Forces Squadron, directly supporting 243 base defenders.

Baumbaugh also mentored three mental health technicians leading them to earn their international accreditation. Her exceptional leadership has earned her three senior leadership coins, and she helped her team secure the squadron’s Team of the Quarter award.
