KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Staff Sgt. Mandeep Singh, a native of Queens, New York and 8th Healthcare Operations Squadron logistics operations section chief, was awarded the 8th Fighter Wing’s Pride of the Pack for the week of July 21-25 for filling a critical manning vacancy, managing contracts worth millions, and identifying equipment backlogs to increase clinic readiness and compliance with Air Force standards.
Singh was personally chosen to fill a critical contract management noncommissioned officer in charge vacancy, where he managed 16 contracts valued at $4.7 million in support of patient care operations. He overcame time zone challenges and regularly worked extended hours with contract officers in Hawaii to resolve urgent issues and successfully renewed three critical contracts worth $410,000, directly supporting 2,000 patients and preventing delays in care.
In addition to his regular duties, Singh oversees medical logistics warehouse operations, the acquisitions section, serves as the medical group’s primary accountable property officer and is a medical response program manager.
He also identified a two-year backlog in equipment, correcting the errors by coordinating funding and executing nine equipment purchases totaling $99,000 across six clinics, eliminating potential capability restraints. Singh modernized the 886E pharmaceuticals assemblage by removing expired stock and replenishing critical items, improving emergency medication readiness and bringing the shop from 70% to 87% compliance with Air Force standards, earning his clinic the top rank among its peers.
Thank you, Staff Sgt. Singh, for your outstanding leadership and dedication to the Wolf Pack mission. Congratulations on being this week’s Pride of the Pack!
