Kunsan Air Base Airmen and Soldiers are participating in a 7th Air Force Peninsula wide Operational Readiness Exercise.

Exercise Beverly Bulldog 08-03 kicked off July 18 with an early morning, wing-wide recall. Throughout the day, Wolf Pack members began hardening buildings, occupying defensive positions, covering up building signs and other actions directed by wing leadership.

"This week's exercise will be an outstanding training experience for all Wolf Pack members," said Col. Bryan Bearden, 8th Fighter Wing commander. "Whether you're new to the Wolf Pack, or an 'old hand,' every Airman, Soldier, or civilian can learn something to help better execute the mission."

Kunsan's mission is well known to service members assigned here -- to defend the base, accept follow-on forces and take the fight north.

During the week long exercise every unit on base will be tested on its ability to survive and operate. The exercise was preceded by a day of ATSO and Self Aid and Buddy Care refresher training--July 14's Wolf War Day. Wolf Pack members will be expected to carry out their mission while under attack from hostile forces, while encumbered by different levels of Mission Oriented Protective Posture gear, and while rendering SABC to injured workmates. A task the Wolf, Colonel Bearden, has no apprehension about completing.

"The men and women of the 8th Fighter Wing are highly trained professionals ready to team with our Korean partners to defend South Korea if called upon," said Colonel Bearden. "It's training exercises such as this that help enhance that capability."

Exercise Beverly Bulldog 08-03 is scheduled to run through July 25.
