When you're deployed, even to Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, it's always good to see a familiar face to remind you of home. Airmen deployed here from the 366th Fighter Wing stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, were able to see those familiar faces when they were visited by their wing leadership, to include their vice commander and command chief.

Col. Peter Lee, 366 FW vice commander and Chief Master Sgt. Ronald McCarthy, 366 FW command chief, visited the Wolf Pack Feb. 24 through March 5 to see how the deployed Gun Fighters were doing and to pass on some information from Mountain Home.

"We came out here to do a morale visit of sorts," said Colonel Lee. "We wanted to bring the Gun Fighters some news from Colonel Bird [366 FW commander] and check out how they are getting along at the Wolf Pack."

Some of the news brought from Idaho for the Gun Fighters included the amount of awards the 366 FW has won at the Air Combat Command level and the 12th Air Force level as well as the institution of a new fitness challenge at Mountain Home.

"One of the things Colonel Bird has introduced is the Gun Fighter challenge," said Chief McCarthy. "Anyone can put a challenge out to an office or an individual challenging them to 10 push-ups. If people want to do more they can. The idea is to promote an overall fitness culture, not just for the physical fitness test, but for a lifetime."

Throughout their time here, the 366th Leadership also toured the base and several work-centers as well as held commander's calls and Airmen's lunches. Those meetings allowed the deployed members to ask questions concerning the goings on at Mountain Home. The sessions also gave the 366th Leadership a chance to express their appreciation for all their hard work.

"The Gun Fighters are doing a great job providing combat power to the peninsula," said Colonel Lee. "When we are launching jets, we're exercising that combat power and providing a vital asset to the peninsula."

This sentiment was also echoed by the Wolf Pack wing leadership.

"I've already talked to Wolf Chief, Viper and Wolf II, across the board, 100 percent, they are in awe of the Bold Tigers," said Colonel Lee. "You set the new high standards and they are very impressed with the amount of work you guys are doing. I appreciate that and Colonel Bird appreciates that."
