Kunsan celebrates 2009 CFC success Published April 7, 2010 By Staff Sgt. Patrice Clarke 8th Fighter Wing Public Affairs KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Members of the Wolf Pack came together April 7, to celebrate the end of another successful Combined Federal Campaign here and to recognize the units on Kunsan for their generosity. "It amazes me that in these hard economic times the members of the Wolf Pack have come together to give so greatly to people they will probably never meet," said Col. Robert Givens, 8th Fighter Wing commander. The Kunsan community raised more than $113 thousand during the 2009 campaign. ThisĀ amount is larger than has been raised at Kunsan over the last four years. In addition to donations gained through individual pledge cards, this year's CFC also held a 5K fun run to kick off the program, and many other unit activities geared toward raising funds. Bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards were given out during the ceremony to those units who achieved a set average contribution per potential contributor and/or a set percentage of the unit who participated. A bronze award signified the unit achieved an average contribution of $60 per potential contributor and/or 40 percent participation. A silver award signified the unit achieved an average contribution of $90 per potential contributor and/or 50 percent participation. A gold award signifies the unit has achieved an average contribution of $120 per potential contributor and/or 60 percent participation. Lastly, the platinum award signified the unit achieved an average contribution of $200 per potential contributor and/or 85 percent participation. Along with the unit awards the CFC bestows one award, the Special Merit Award, to one unit throughout each country that has achieved the greatest improvement over the previous year's campaign results. The 8th Fighter Wing was the 2009 United States Forces Korea special merit award winner. "I commend you on your generosity," said Kitty Malcolm, Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas Pacific Campaign Coordinator. "Not only are you giving your money but you are also giving your valuable time. We appreciate it, as well as the people who benefit from the more than 2,000 charities in the campaign. Your gifts are greatly appreciated."
