Pride of the Pack: Staff Sgt. Jamonika Lightner Published Dec. 20, 2010 8th Fighter Wing Public Affairs KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Unit: 35th Fighter Squadron Duties: Squadron Aviation Resource Management Hometown: Shreveport, La. Hobbies: Photography Favorite music: Bebop Jazz and Hip Hop Follow on: Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. Last good movie you saw: Kung Fu Hustle Best thing you've done here: I went to Lotte World with a group of friends. I was too afraid to get on any rides, but there were some Korean college students that we hung out with the whole time. We talked about the U.S. and Korean culture like music, movies and sports (but mostly music). Later, they took us to a pizza and ice cream place and we had to say our good-byes. Reason for nomination: "On Nov. 30, Sergeant Lightner, NCO in charge of 35th FS Squadron Aviation Resource Management, received an urgent phone call from the base clinic, informing her that one of her fellow SARMs was in the clinic with an acute medical ailment that required immediate transportation to Iksan Hospital. She was told that Airman First Class Jasmine Kennedy would need a military escort to accompany her and remain by her side. Sergeant Lightner immediately notified the 35th FS Top 3 of the situation and coordinated for a replacement at the flying ops desk. She then quickly coordinated transportation to the hospital to accompany the airman to the hospital overnight. Sergeant Lightner also coordinated for clothing and overnight essentials to be gathered and transported to the hospital, as the ill Airman's stay was determined to be nearly a week in length. Sergeant Lightner rode in the ambulance with her co-worker, providing much needed assistance and moral support in a very frightening turn of events. Thanks to her quick actions and selfless attitude, her fellow Airman was provided the much needed comfort and assistance of a friend and co-worker, in an especially stressful and scary time in her life. Sergeant Lightner's actions and attitude embody the U.S. Air Force Core Values and demonstrate the Wolf Pack's continued dedication to taking care of its own." - Master Sgt. Timothy Williams, 35th FS
