Wolf Pack Airmen will have the chance to take part in an American traditional pastime when they watch Super Bowl XLV here Feb. 7.

Named "Super Bowl Day," U.S. forces across the Korean peninsula will be given the day to enjoy the game and all that it entails.

"It's America's football at its best when the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas plays host to the Super Bowl," said Gen. Walter Sharp, U.S. Forces Korea commander, in an Armed Forces Network television announcement. "This year's kickoff will mark 45 years of football tradition, and all of America will be watching. To get to this game, you have to have leadership, toughness and great teamwork. These are the same qualities that make our USFK team so great, and why I am so proud of all of you this year. Enjoy this special day off, be safe, have fun and may the best team win."

American Forces Network television will air Super Bowl XLV beginning at 8 a.m. locally.

The Loring Club here will hold a Super Bowl party, with the doors opening at 6 a.m. to broadcast the game - complete with America's favorite Super Bowl commercials - in three rooms of the club. The event includes breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m., a "tailgate buffet" from 10 to 11:30 a.m., food specials throughout the event, and games, prizes and giveaways during the half-time show.

The tailgate buffet will be free to all Super Bowl party participants, as the menu features 175 Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas provided by the Pizza for Patriots Operation World Pizza program.

According to a USFK instruction, the P4P OWP program provided headquarters U.S. Forces Korea and service components with approximately 650 of the frozen pizzas to distribute across the peninsula, so USFK personnel, mainly those operating at remote locations, could enjoy a "slice of home" during Super Bowl XLV celebrations.

An Air Force tradition will also merge with this year's American football game event, as Tops In Blue, the Air Force's expeditionary entertainment unit, is scheduled to perform "America the Beautiful" during festivities leading up to Super Bowl XLV.

"So come on out to the Loring Club, Wolf Pack, to catch the Super Bowl and commercials, and all the other club festivities and game coverage!" said Maj. Angela Kim, 8th Force Support Squadron commander.
