Kunsan Airmen learn reasons for rules: Articles 15

KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  Non-judicial Punishment under Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, provides commanders with an essential and prompt means of maintaining good order and discipline. It also promotes positive behavioral changes among service members without the stigma of a court-martial conviction. An Article 15 may be imposed for a variety of offenses at the commander's discretion.

A senior airman from the 8th Security Forces Squadron received an Article 15 for one specification of drunkenness - incapacitation for performance of duties through prior wrongful indulgence in intoxicating liquor. For this action, the senior airman received a suspended reduction to the rank of airman first class, forfeitures of $150 pay per month for two months, 15 days extra duty, 15 days restriction to Kunsan Air Base, and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant from the 8th Civil Engineer Squadron received an Article 15 for three specifications of provoking speech or gesture, three specifications of assault consummated by a battery, and one specification of drunk and disorderly. For these actions, the staff sergeant received a reduction to the rank of senior airman, suspended forfeiture of $300 pay per month for two months, 30 days extra duty, 30 days of restriction to Kunsan Air Base, and a reprimand.

An airman first class from the 8th Maintenance Squadron received an Article 15 for one specification of dereliction of duty - underage drinking. For this action, the airman first class received a suspended reduction to the rank of airman, 30 days extra duty, 30 days of restriction to Kunsan Air Base, and a reprimand.

An airman first class from the 8th Civil Engineer Squadron received an Article 15 for one specification of AWOL - three days or less and one specification of failure to obey a lawful order. For these actions, the airman first class received a reduction to the rank of airman and a reprimand.

An airman first class from the 8th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received an Article 15 for one specification of dereliction of duty - underage drinking, two specifications of assault consummated by a battery, and one specification of drunk and disorderly. For this action, the airman first class received a reduction to the rank of airman, suspended forfeitures of $200 pay per month for two months, 15 days extra duty, 45 days of restriction to Kunsan Air Base, and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant from the 8th Maintenance Squadron received an Article 15 for one specification of drunk and disorderly. For this action, the staff sergeant received a suspended reduction to the rank of senior airman, 10 days extra duty, 15 days of restriction to Kunsan Air Base, and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant from the 8th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received an Article 15 for one specification of drunk and disorderly. For this action, the staff sergeant received a suspended reduction to the rank of senior airman and a reprimand.
