The base kicked off the annual Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF) campaign, which ends May 3.

The AFAF consists of four organizations, the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society, the (General and Mrs. Curtis E.) LeMay Foundation, and the Air Force Enlisted Village.

"This is a very important fundraising effort because it goes straight to Air Force members, so it's us taking care of our people," said 1st Lt. Brandon Jacobson, 8th Comptroller Squadron, financial analysis flight commander, and AFAF base point of contact.

According to the AFAF Web site, it was established to provide an annual effort to raise funds for the charitable affiliates providing support to the Air Force family (active duty, retirees, reservists, guard and their dependents, including surviving spouses) in need. These organizations help Air Force people with aid in an emergency, educational need, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance.

Master Sgt. David Hance, 8th Civil Engineer Squadron, infrastructure superintendent and base POC, said all active duty, reserve and civilian members are invited to donate.

"I contribute every year as it has helped me early in my career, so it's very important to me that people get to use it today," Hance said. "I used Air Force Aid Society when I was an Airman and I had a vehicle break down right before a deployment. My wife used it to get our vehicle repaired when I wasn't there, so I recommend everyone contribute because it goes back to helping our people."
