Tong Duong 8th Fighter Wing Public Affairs KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Members of the 8th Medical Group were tested on their ability to efficiently coordinate the Expeditionary Patient Staging System during exercise Beverly Bearcat 13-1 at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, April 8, 2013. The event tested the 8th MDG on their ability to move their 50-bed E-PaSS from its storage to setup location in a timely manner. "It was designed to test our ability to quickly and safely get the package on site," said Capt. Rajeev Williams, 8th Medical Support Squadron, medical readiness flight commander. "The 8th MDG medical logistics section worked tirelessly in coordination with the 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 8th Civil Engineer Squadron, and 8th Communications Squadron to make it happen." Considering the limited manpower and time constraints, Williams said the exercises inject was a success, and he is now more confident in the 8th MDG's ability to carry out their mission of patient care and evacuation. "Our medical logistics team gained a vast amount of real world experience in preparing the package for movement, and the medical control center was able to lock down all the real world coordination necessary with other squadrons for complete activation," he said. Despite having the pressure of Exercise Evaluation Team inspectors watching his every move, Tech. Sgt. Peter Faust, 8th MDG NCO in charge of home station medical response, said it did not bother him or his team, and they were ready to demonstrate their abilities. "I feel better prepared now for this mission considering we have never practiced it before," Faust said. "I think it gives a better understanding for everyone involved that all units are more prepared."
