The 8th Fighter Wing hosted the First Sergeant Symposium the week of April 22-26.

The First Sergeant Symposium is a course that is offered twice a year for technical and master sergeants who wish to become additional duty first sergeants.

A first sergeant's role is to advise the commander on matters about personnel readiness, health, morale, welfare, and quality of life of Airmen to guarantee they are mission-ready at all times.

During the symposium, attendees received tools from current first sergeants and gained experience during practice scenarios to prepare them for different situations that they may be faced with.

After the course for members still interested in becoming a first sergeant, members will have to submit an application showcasing their workplace experience as well as their supervisory and leadership experience.
