COLONEL JOHN W. PEARSE
Colonel John W. Pearse commands the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea and serves as the U.S. Forces Korea Area VI commander for more than 7,000 Air Force and Army combat ready and forward deployed personnel. The 8th Fighter Wing plans, supports and executes military operations to include counter-air, interdiction and close air support and consists of more than 2,800 active duty personnel, four groups and 14 squadrons, including two F-16 fighter squadrons. The colonel reports to the 7th Air Force commander for the wing's conduct of conventional air-to-ground and air-to-air missions in support of armistice and wartime taskings.
As F-16 instructor pilot and mission commander, he flew over 35 multinational combat missions during Operations ALLIED FORCE and SOUTHERN WATCH. Colonel Pearse served a NATO tour of duty as Chief, Defensive Plans in Combined Air Operations Center 9, AFELM/SHAPE, RAF High Wycombe, United Kingdom. During this tour, he served as the Regional Air Operations Center Chief as part of the International Security Assistance Force, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. Following his NATO assignment, Colonel Pearse served as the 35th Operations Group Commander at Misawa Air Base, Japan. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Inspector General Team Chief, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.
