Colonel Jill Scheckel commands the 8th Medical Group at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. As commander, she is responsible for all medical support to a combat-ready Fighter Wing through the full spectrum of operations by delivering preventive health services and outpatient medical care to more than 2,600 active duty personnel. Her responsibilities include maintaining medical facilities and equipment valued at $29M. She directs training to sustain peak personnel and medical readiness. In contingency, she is responsible for all medical aspects associated with the integration of follow-on forces, the expansion to a hospital with Aeromedical staging capability, incorporation of expeditionary medical support assets, and rapid employment of over $17M of war reserve material.

Colonel Scheckel received a direct commission into the Air Force in July 1995. She is a licensed, clinical psychologist and previously served as an Air Force Intern, Director of the Air Force Executive Skills Program, and Chief of Air Combat Command's Behavioral Health Branch. Colonel Scheckel also commanded the 72nd Medical Operations Squadron, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, leading a diverse squadron of 184 military, civil service, and contract personnel in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, and Mental Health. As commander, Colonel Scheckel provided executive management of comprehensive healthcare for more than 54,000 beneficiaries with oversight authority for an annual budget of $34.5M.
