Airman's Roll Call addresses uniform updates

  • Published
This week's Airman's Roll Call focuses on updates to the Airman Battle Uniform and physical training uniform.

Air Force officials are cautioning Airmen to resist rushing to commercial manufacturers who have begun advertising the availability of the new Airman Battle Uniform.

Officials said these uniforms are not the authorized items provided by the Air Force's official source and may not meet the service's stringent specifications.

Also, after reviewing nearly 500 inputs from Airmen concerning the physical training uniform, the Air Force uniform board has recommended changes. Those changes address concerns with the lining in the shorts that many Airmen believe is too tight. Additionally, the Air Force Clothing Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is researching alternative fabrics to reduce the weight of the PT running suit and T-shirt.
