Members of the Republic of Korea Air Force and U.S. Air Force gathered for the 2018 US-ROKAF Friendship Day at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Nov. 9, 2018.

The US-ROKAF Friendship Day had participants from the 8th FW and 38th FG competing in twelve different sports and interactive events, such as basketball, volleyball, a “League of Legends” video game competition, golf, bowling, and soccer.

The 8th Fighter Wing and 38th Fighter Group celebrated their partnership and ironclad alliance while participating in different events throughout the day. Attendees also watched a cultural dance performance put on by local professional dancers.

“I love friendship day!” said ROKAF Maj. Changsoon Eom, 111th Fighter Squadron pilot, who participated in the basketball tournament. “It’s different, challenging, and fun to have the opportunity to be able to compete with our USAF counterparts.”

The day was dedicated to improving camaraderie and relations with allied partners in the ROKAF, while engaging in some friendly sports competition that a multi-national team of volunteers worked to provide.

“Blood, sweat and tears went into planning this event,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jacqueline Jones, 8th Force Support Squadron special events coordinator. “Being able to see the camaraderie between USAF and ROKAF made it all worthwhile.”

Both the 8th FW and 38th FG members gave it their all during this year’s Friendship Day, but the 38th FG claimed victory over the Wolf Pack this year, taking home first place overall.
